Jennifer is a California state licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and massage therapist. Her specialization is in orthopedics and pain management.
She practices acupuncture through an integrative lens, using Western style physical exam to diagnose, and Eastern methods of treatment.
Prior to practicing Chinese Medicine, Jennifer earned a BS in Dietetics from the University of Florida, and served in the Peace Corps as a Health Education Molunteer in Moldova. There she developed a health ed curriculum for her village school, and focused on how to optimize health in a sustainable way. This ignited her passion for education as preventative medicine, and still influences her today. Jennifer’s ultimate goal is to empower her patients to be in control of their own health and well-being.
Jennifer completed her Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz in 2010, with a speicialization in orthopedics. She completed an externship at the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hangzhou, China, where she focused on classical acupuncture techniques.
Jennifer continued her orthopedic and neurologic studies beginning in 2013, with two extensive programs. The first of which was Dr. Anthony Von Der Muhl’s two year Acupuncure Orthopedics and Physical Medicine program, where she learned in-depth physical exam and diagnostics, dry needling, prolo-acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, and manual therapies. She continues to study and TA for Dr. Von Der Muhl today.
Secondly, she is certified in the Neuro-Meridian Integrative Acupuncture program, taught by Dr. Poney Chiang. This program focuses on the classical location of acupuncture points, and their exact correlation with modern neuro-anatomy. This program is a natural progression, as it incorporates improving neurologic function into the treatment of pain and injury.
She combines this knowledge of ancient eastern and modern western concepts to specialize in sports medicine, orthopedics, pain management, and scar tissue repair. Jennifer regularly works with Cal Berkeley athletes, Olympic athletes, NFL and MLB players.
